چکیده

In this study, the feasibility of Forward–Reverse osmosis processes was investigated for treating oily wastewater. The first stage applied forward process to recover pure water from Sodium chloride (NaCl) and magnesium (MgCl2) salts were used as draw solutions membrane that in (FO) cellulose triacetate (CTA) membrane. operating parameters studied were: solution concentrations (0.25 – 0.75 M), oil concentration feed (FS) (100-1000 ppm), temperature FS (DS) (30 - 45 °C), pH (4-10) flow rate both DS (20 60 l/h). It found flux increase by increasing solutions, a limit (40oC), then, decrease with because happening internal polarization phenomenon. By DS, decreased, while it had fluctuated behavior pHof also MgCl2 gives higher than NaCl. So values resistance solute diffusion within porous support layer 55.93 h/m 26.21 NaCl respectively. second reverse using polyamide (thin film composite (TFC)) separating fresh diluted different such (0.08–0.16 (20–40

Forward Osmosis in Wastewater Treatment Processes.

In recent years, membrane technology has been widely used in wastewater treatment and water purification. Membrane technology is simple to operate and produces very high quality water for human consumption and industrial purposes. One of the promising technologies for water and wastewater treatment is the application of forward osmosis. Essentially, forward osmosis is a process in which water i...

Forward Osmosis as a Pre-treatment to Reverse Osmosis

This paper presents some aspects of forward osmosis coupled with reverse osmosis using a recirculating draw solution, to produce desalinated water or for dewatering/concentrating a feed stream, with some data provided from a number of operational sites. Many of these aspects are applicable to other osmotic processes and provide an insight into where they may be appropriately considered. A compa...

Chromium Removal from Wastewater by Reverse Osmosis

This study describes the removal of chromium from wastewater using pressure-driven membrane separation processes. It describes the rejection of trivalent chromium using a commercial membrane for reverse osmosis typed RO98pHt (Alfa Laval, Sweden). Model solutions of chromium were used for performing of separation experiments. The effects of feed pH, chromium concentration and temperature were in...

Forward osmosis membrane fouling and cleaning for wastewater reuse

Membrane fouling properties and different physical cleaning methods for forward osmosis (FO) and reverse osmosis (RO) laboratory-scale filtration systems were investigated. The membrane fouling, with respect to flux reduction, was lower in FO than in RO when testing an activated sludge effluent. Crossflow velocity, air-scouring, osmotic backwashing and effect of a spacer were compared to determ...
